SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A teenager underwent emergency surgery after a double shooting on Syracuse's south side.

Police say Sherron Jones, 16, and Quavon Cosby, 15, were shot on the 400 block of Rich Street, but the crime scene covered almost two blocks, including Hudson and Marginal streets. It happened just after 5 p.m. Monday.

Jones is in critical condition at Upstate University Hospital. Cosby was hit in the arm.

Police say the suspect is a black male in his 20s, last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and riding a bicycle on Hudson Street.

Police say a number of people were out on the street when the shooting happened. They are asking anyone who may have seen anything to come forward with information by calling (315) 442-5222.
