The 16th annual Finger Lakes Wine Festival comes to a close. The annual event draws large crowds to Watkins Glen International every year. Our Melissa Kakareka was there as visitors savored the final day of the event on Sunday.

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. -- Thousands of people headed to Watkins Glen International this weekend, but it wasn't for the races. They were there to get a taste of all that the Finger Lakes Wine Festival has to offer.

"It's really just a big celebration of all the wineries in the region. This is year 16 and it every year it gets bigger and bigger," said WGI President Michael Printup.

The three day festival allows people to sample products from more than 80 regional
wineries all in one place.

"It's kind of fun to see everything right here and be able to go by and compare one to the other so we enjoy that," said visitor Jackie Southard.

"It's a great way to get our name out there, people come, they have a good time, they get to taste our wine," said Mark Wiltberger of Keuka Spring Vineyards.

And that's not all. People were also able to enjoy a variety of food and entertainment while sipping on their drinks.

"We just get to have a lot of fun with the arts and crafts and culinary classes, and music, all types, all over the place, we even have race car rides for anyone who wants to take a ride around this track," said Printup.

Creating an atmosphere that makes a wine lover out of many people who attend.

"If you thought you didn't like wine, come here and you will find a wine that you like, I don't care who it is or what you like, you will find at least one wine that you like and you will come back just for that wine," said visitor Bradley Hopkins.

It gives attendees a reason to keep coming back, year after year.
