WARREN COUNTY, N.Y. -- The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Business Council of New York State, Incorporated made an announcement regarding Matt Doheny's campaign for Congress.

The Republican Candidate received an endorsement from both sides Thursday at a press conference at the Sagamore in Bolton Landing.

Doheny, an investment fund manager from Watertown, is facing incumbent Bill Owens in this year's election for the newly re-drawn 21st Congressional district. The 12 county district is larger than nine states and has the largest Republican enrollment of New York’s 27 congressional districts.

Doheny says he appreciates the endorsement and is grateful for the confidence and trust the Chamber has in him.

"We need to go ahead and bring new leadership to Washington. Now, it is going to be challenging? Sure. I mean, there is another team out there. But you know what? It’s people like yourself and organizations like you both represent that go ahead and give wind behind the sails of my candidacy. To know that there’s people across the country who do believe in more growth, more freedom, less regulatory burden, keeping taxes at bay," Doheny said.

This election will be a rematch of the 2010 23rd Congressional District race in which Doheny did not secure the Conservative line. Owens defeated Doheny by 1,900 votes, among the smallest margins of victory in the country.
