LIVERPOOL, N.Y. -- New Year’s Eve doesn't have to be about the glitz and glam. It's also a family event in locations throughout the region, like Onondaga Lake Park, where First Night festivities are underway.

Our cameras were there as crews were setting up for the night-long celebration.

This outdoor, family friendly event showcases entertainment from top regional music groups and a national recording artist.

Activities for the kids include laser tag, infatables, crafts and glow-in-the dark mini golf. There's also a chance to walk through Lights on the Lake.

At midnight, the orange ball drop returns, followed by fireworks.
