Suspect shot, killed by deputy

By: Web Staff

ALTONA, N.Y. -- A Clinton County man is shot and killed by a Sheriff's Deputy after a he allegedly threatened several officers with a knife.

Deputies were trying to arrest 28-year-old Dusty Clark at his home in Altona, about 30 miles north of Plattsburgh.

According to the Clinton County Sheriff's Department, Clark refused to cooperate and grabbed a knife. Deputies tried to slow him down with a stun gun, but it apparently was ineffective. After cornering one deputy, investigators say Clark was warned to put his knife down, and at that point he was shot.

Police say Clark died of a single gunshot wound.

The sheriff's department says Clark was wanted for failing to appear in court on charges of unlicensed operation and unsafe passing.

The investigation into the shooting is underway.
