STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. -- After being at odds for years, Painted Post's Dresser-Rand and Union 313 have finally reached a tentative contract.
The labor agreement, which represents about 350 Dresser-Rand employees, will be presented on Saturday and voted on next Friday.
It has been a long couple of years for the company and the union. Back in 2007, union members went on strike for a number of months and when the Dresser-Rand locked those members out of the buildings, a lawsuit was filed.
Then in 2010, a judge ruled in favor of the union, forcing the company to reinstate multiple employees that were discharged during the strike.
In August 2008, the National Labor Relations Board met with the company to address labor violations.
If passed next week, the new labor agreement may begin to mend the unsteady relationship between the company and employees.
