BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The public got its chance to weigh in Wednesday on the proposed sale of a city owned property.

The City of Binghamton is in discussions to sell the Greenman Senior Center on Pine Street to Opportunities for Broome for $75,000. The organization says it will use the property to run a commercial kitchen training center, as well as provide services for senior citizens that were lost in the neighborhood when the center closed in 2011.

Right now, the sale is getting mixed reviews.

"We really commend Opportunities for Broome for their desire to invest in our street, because we don't really see anyone else with the desire to do that. We're excited about them wanting to bring this program, which has potential to greatly impact many residents," said Pine Street resident Lauren Tonti.

"I have no objection to Opportunities for Broome. They're a great organization. One of my big objections is that the building is supposed to be appraised at $400,000 and we're selling it for $75,000," Joyce McCloe said.

City Council plans to consider the sale at its next business meeting. which will be held on April 3rd.
