Syracuse United Neighbors protest
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- One neighborhood group paid a visit to a law firm in Syracuse Friday, protesting a building they say has been abandoned for 16 years.

Syracuse United Neighbors say 133 South Avenue is owned by Syracuse Attorney James Medcraf, but the protest didn't go very far. After they walked into the law firm, workers there told them Medcraf only rented space on the same floor. They went back outside as Syracuse Police arrived. But protestors say they won’t leave until Medcraf speaks with them.

"I live over there and I don't want that in my area. If it was mine, they would have torn in down," said Brenda Williams, a spokesperson for the Syracuse United Neighbors.

Some of the signs they carried revealed a court order signed by Judge James Tormey asking Medcraf to remove the abandoned building.

Medcraf owns seven other properties that appear well-maintained.

Calls to James Medcraf have not been returned.
