"Baby Grace" not Deonna Shipman

By: Staff

Police in Galveston County Texas say the remains of a young girl discovered in late October are not that of a missing Liverpool girl.

The body, which police dubbed "Baby Grace" was found in a storage bin along Galveston Bay.

Authorities say the girl is Riley Ann Sawyers and not 4-year-old Deonna Shipman.

DNA analysis is still in progress to confirm that identification.

It was believed there were similarities between a sketch of Baby Grace and Deonna, who investigators say was kidnapped over the summer by her father, Jeffery Shipman.

Authorities believe he took her out of the country.

Meanwhile, a couple has been charged in connection with the Riley Ann Sawyers case.
