ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Onondaga County is expanding its Pro Act Prescription Drug Discount Card Program to help uninsured and underinsured residents.

The cards, which already save people on prescription drugs, will now be accepted for eye and hearing benefits. Participants can now get discounts of up to 60 percent on eye exams, LASIK eye surgery, glasses, contacts and hearing aids.

There are no financial requirements to get a card, but those who have an existing card will have to get a new one to take advantage of the new benefits.

"We're really excited about this new benefit, again it's as Bill said, taking it to another level to provide these valued added services that folks so desperately need," said ProAct spokesman Mike Maenza.

The prescription drug cards are also easy to get. To get one or to learn more about the program, visit www.proactrx.com.
