SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse police are investigating the city's latest homicide. Callers alerted patrols to shots fired along the 100 block of Eastman Avenue. They found a 17-year-old, Kiwan Rush on the ground and unconscious. He had been shot. He died a short time later at a local hospital.
Police say they are encouraged by the information they are gathering on the crime.
"We're experiencing more cooperation from our citizens than we've enjoyed in the past. And that is, in fact, a good sign. But, we are talking about a homicide. Although I'm encouraged about the level of cooperation we're getting, I'm discouraged about the fact that we have another young person that has died on our streets," said Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler.
Police are asking anyone with information on the case to call them at 442-5222.
