SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A Syracuse police officer has been cleared in the shooting of a suspect. A grand jury determined Officer Scott Henderson was justified in shooting Adam Goodman on December 15th.
Henderson responded to a call from Grace Street that night that someone was trying to break into an apartment. When he arrived, investigators say Goodman threatened to shoot him and pointed a gun at him. They say the officer fired at Goodman multiple times, and heard what sounded like a weapon being fired by Goodman.
Goodman was hit once in the abdomen and killed, and when police moved in they learned that his weapon was actually a BB pistol.
Police now say the weapon he was aiming at the officer was a BB pistol that looked like a real handgun.
The autopsy showed that Goodman had cocaine and morphine in his system at the time of his death.
