OSWEGO, N.Y. -- An Oswego man has set a new Guinness World Record in weight lifting, for the third time in just nine months.
Bob Natoli currently holds records in most weight arm curled in one hour, most weight lifted by front dumbbell raises in one hour and now in most weight lifted by barbell upright row in one hour.
The original record for the last one was more than 40,000 pounds. Natoli shattered it, lifting 51,640 pounds Thursday afternoon. He says he uses record breaking as motivation to continue to train hard and stay in shape.
"You can go to the gym every day and you can train, but how long will you stay with it without a goal, or as I say, a true vision, a true vision for what you want to do and someone who goes to the gym everyday without any sort of vision for how they want to look or what they want to do, how long do they work out? Not very long, they don't keep it up, but when you're driving toward a goal, you tend to keep going," Natoli said.
Natoli also holds records for chin ups and squat thrusts. He dedicated Thursday's record attempt to veterans and has donated $2,000 to the Syracuse VA Medical Center to celebrate his achievement.
