ITHACA, N.Y. -- Ithaca Police arrested a man for a shooting that injured an Elmira man last year. Investigators said Jamel Booker, 22, is responsible for a shooting on the 500 block of West Green Street on April 9th of last year. Russell Blackman was shot several times in that incident and was treated at Robert Packer Hospital in Pennsylvania.

A warrant was issued for Booker back in June, and police believed he fled to Florida. They learned that he was in the Ithaca area on Wednesday and took him into custody at a local hotel.

Booker is being held at the Tompkins County Jail on a charge of second degree criminal possession of a weapon.
