SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse Police continue their investigation into Monday night's double shooting. Police said three men armed with handguns went into a home on the 100 block of Van Renssalear Street just before 8:30 p.m. and attempted to rob the people in the second floor apartment.

Josh Hinton, 24, was shot in the abdomen and Jacquelin Palmer, 22, was shot in the neck. Both are at Upstate University hospital in critical and serious condition.

Police said this was not a random attack.

"We believe that this house was targeted for a reason. We don't believe this was a random home invasion. We believe that there was a reason that whoever committed this crime came to this house to rob them. We're looking into the possibility that it could have been over drugs," said Syracuse Police Sergeant Tom Connellan.

Police said the three male suspects left in a blue four-door sedan. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Syracuse Police at (315) 442-5222.
