There's still time to participate in the Muscular Dystrophy Association's annual Lock-Up event next month. On May 8th, about 600 people are expected to become jailbirds for the day in an effort to raise money for the MDA. Our Brad Vivacqua reports.

ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- People can help in a few different ways. You can sign up or nominate someone to be a jailbird at the Spaghetti Warehouse in Syracuse on May 8th. You can also simply spread the word about the Lock-Up event taking place next month and consider making a donation.

The MDA of Central New York represents nine counties across the region. Right now, about 560 company representatives are signed up to participate in the event with a goal of raising $2,400 each for bail. Jailbirds will be asking their work contacts, family, and friends for donations to their bail before they can be released from jail. The money will help the non-government funded agency with funds to send kids with muscular diseases to summer camp.

"If someone sends you an email or mentions it, give them a donation, because they're helping out local families, and it's just a fun way for our businesses to network and come down, and have fun, but also, the money that you're donating to them, is helping our local families," said Genevieve Lizotte, MDA Fundraising Coordinator.

The MDA has a goal of raising $100,000 at this year's event.

This year's Lock-Up will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Spaghetti Warehouse in Syracuse on May 8th.
