CENTRAL NEW YORK -- Nine Central New Yorker homeowners will receive an extreme home energy makeovers.
GreenHomes America received a $360,000r grant from NYSERDA to perform the deep energy retrofits which typically include insulating the walls, attic area, updating heating, air conditioning and windows.
It's a project that could cost more than $50,000, but long term homeowners could see anywhere from a 50 to 75 percent reduction in their energy bills.
"When you have that kind of insulation and air sealing, which is the predominant means of which you reduce those bills. If we change out furnace and air conditioning units for instance, we're going to be putting in top of the line units that are available out there, so the efficiencies are going to be very, very high," said John Scipione, GreenHomes American Central New York Branch Manager.
NYSERDA will pay for up to 80 percent of the retrofit.
To apply for this opportunity, homeowners should call GreenHomes America at (315) 474-6549. All applications must be received by May 31st.
