SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse University breaks ground on a new building that will house the SU College of Law.

The five story Dineen Hall is being built on the site of a current parking lot on the campus' western edge. It will have a central atrium, a library, a ceremonial courtroom and other amenities designed specifically for law students.

But those involved with the project say the biggest advantage is that now the law school is unified into one building.

"This unified space is really going to give all of our students the opportunity to collaborate with faculty and staff and be in one space and at the same time, it's accessible to our community. Members are going to want to come in and interact and we'll be able to offer legal education to the community that we haven't been able to offer before," said Michael Kaplan, a 2011 SU Law School graduate.

Dineen Hall is named after the Dineen family, who donated $15 million to the University.

It's expected to open in the fall of 2014.
