West Nile virus found in Central Square
OSWEGO COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two cases of West Nile virus have been found in Central Square. The Oswego County Health Department says the virus was found in two collections of mosquitoes collected July 2nd and July 4th in the village.
Health officials say it's earlier than they usually see the virus, but there are no human cases at this time. West Nile has already appeared in Onondaga County and is now present in five counties in New York State.
Your best bet for protecting yourself is using insect repellents and limit outdoor activities between dusk and dawn, the time when mosquitoes are most active.
