Canoeist's death caused by health condition
MADISON COUNTY, N.Y. -- Autopsy results show the canoeist who died this weekend on Cazenovia Lake did not drown. Instead, he likely suffered health issues while out on the water.
Sheriff's deputies say Arthur Morris III, 64, from Manlius was fishing about 100 feet from shore when he went into the water. Two paddlers who were nearby saw him clinging to the side of his canoe and tried to rescue him, but Morris died after being taken to the hospital.
Complete results from the autopsy are still pending, but the sheriff's office says from what they know at this point, Morris most likely died as a result of existing health issues.
