WEST MONROE, N.Y. -- The Oswego County Sheriff's office has released new details in a fatal crash in West Monroe.

Deputies say a North Carolina resident went off the road and hit a tree around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday night on County Route 11 near Smith Road.

Officials are still working to positively identify the victim.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, but officials believe speed may have been a contributing factor.
