Lifeguard trainer arrested for not being certified

ONONDAGA COUNTY -- He was hired to teach others how to save lives but police in Solvay said he wasn't qualified and lied to get the job.
Andrew Montero, 26, was working at the the Solvay-Geddes Youth center as a CPR-AED, water safety, lifeguard and first aid instructor. Police, however, said he was instructing without proper certification.
They said Montero claimed to be a certified instructor of the Red Cross and accepted money for training he provided. Police started investigating when a parent came forward.
Montero now faces 12 charges including scheme to defraud, petit larceny and falsifying business records.
