Officials issue caution about West Nile/Lyme disease
ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Although summer is winding down the Onondaga County Health Department is reminding residents to still be wary of West Nile virus and Lyme disease.

Officials say that while there have been no reported human cases of West Nile this year, mosquitoes bearing the virus were found last week in Lysander.

Also, more than 50 cases of Lyme disease have been confirmed this year. The ticks that cause the illness are active until mid-October.
