JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- Drivers using U.S. Route 11 in Jefferson County north of Watertown may be in for a wait, as work continues on the I-781 Fort Drum Connector Road.

The structural steel beams for the bridge over Route 11 are going in one at a time.

Traffic tonight and possibly Friday night could be slowed down due to the work, so drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Ten beams were put in place Tuesday, and ten more will go in tonight and Friday night. The State DOT hopes to finish the project by the end of the summer.
