MARCY, N.Y. - About fifty motorcyclists took to the roads Saturday morning to raise awareness about a disease that affects dozens of local people.
Chiari Springomyelia is a rare neurological disorder where the brain descends below the skull putting pressure on the spinal cord.
Riders raised nearly one thousand dollars for the Utica CSF Chapter. This is the fourth year of the Ride for a Cure, and organizers say it has a deep meaning to them.
"My daughter has this disease, so it's very important to me. It's close to home, and hopefully everybody that has this disease someday will have a cure," said James Feisthamel, ride organizer.
