TRENTON, N.Y. - Sunday was the last chance for hikers to take a walk along the Trenton Falls Scenic Trail. Dozens of navigators hit the paths to catch one final glimpse of the falls before the trail closes for the year.
Organizers say this summer was a success, as over 5,000 hikers visited the trails. More impressive is the fact that the park is only open four weekends per year.
The reason is because of its location, which is along the West Canada Creek on the property of a power supply company.
"It is owned by Brookfield Renewable Power and they do have a business to run, so we can't interrupt their business, but they are gracious enough to allow us to get in their space for four weekends out of the year," said Anna Engstrom, coordinator for the Trenton Falls Scenic Trail.
If you missed your chance to walk the trails this year, organizers say it will be open next year. A schedule should be released sometime in January.
