REMSEN, N.Y. -- A Remsen native gets more accolades for her achievements in sports. Erin Hamlin was named one of the top ten female athletes of the year by the Associated Press.
Tennis star Serena Williams topped the list.
Earlier this year Hamlin won the World Luge Championship in Lake Placid and she just recently secured a spot on Team USA for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.
Erin's mom says she's proud of all her daughter's accomplishments.
"Since the world championship last February a lot has happened to her. And at the same time she's wanted to keep her focus on luge and keep grounded so to speak. But to even be in the mix of the top 10 female athletes I think made her feel kind of good that all the hard work has paid off," said Eileen Hamlin.
Hamlin is in Europe right now. She has four more luge races before the 2010 Winter Olympics kick off in Vancouver in February.
