UTICA, N.Y. -- The golf season in Utica begins on an upswing. Valley View, the city owned course, has seen profits in both 2008 and 2009.

Mayor David Roefaro says because of this, the golf club now has a capital fund of $176,000. This money will go toward upgrading the maintenance facility, sand traps and tees.

Roefaro also said he hopes to extend the cart paths and have watered fairways. He attributes the profits to the management team and wants this to become a place all residents can enjoy.

"This is becoming again one of the premier courses. We have a great board that we work with, a commission that overseas operations of the golf course. They're very in tune to what this golf course needs, what the management needs," said Roefaro.

The course will be open until November 15th.
