ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Westmoreland man was charged with attempted arson after authorities said he tried to burn down his house during a domestic dispute. Investigators said Douglas Walts, 41, was leaving his home on Route 26 following the incident when he lit a blanket and curtains on fire. Deputies said that fire was extinguished by other people inside the home.
Deputies said Walts then went to another structure on the property and attempted to set that on fire as well, but that was also put out.
Walts was arraigned and sent to the Oneida County Jail on $30,000 bail.
