ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Vernon Downs has announced several major changes to make this a very different and spectacular season at the casino and race track.

Their 59th season kicks off this Friday night and will feature an additional racing night on Thursdays every week. The casino is also preparing to expand if the state legislature amends the constitution to allow gambling tables.

Perhaps their largest announcement though, is that tickets to their Bruce Springsteen concert in August go on sale this weekend.

"The casino is going to donate a dollar from every ticket sold to the local food bank, as well as the Utica VOC, which helps veterans. And I'm going to personally also donate a dollar," said Jeff Gural, owner of Vernon Downs.

The casino hopes to raise about $100,000 from the Springsteen concert.

It will hold another charity concert with the group America on July 4th weekend.
