Obama calls for Americans to get involved
WASHINGTON -- On the eve of his presidential inauguration, Barack Obama made stops around Washington with a call for Americans to take part in community service.
Obama visited wounded troops at a military hospital and then visited an emergency shelter for homeless teenagers.
Obama and his wife, Michelle, also stopped by a Washington, D.C. high school where Obama spoke about the man this day honors.

Obama said, "The main reason Michelle and I wanted to come here today is just to say thank you. Both of us participated in service this morning and on a day where we remember, not just a dreamer, but a doer, an actor."
Hundreds of thousands of people participated in more than 10,000 service projects on Monday.
