STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. -- It will likely be one more day before opening statements get underway in the murder trial of an Elmira man. As of Tuesday, ten jurors had been seated in the Marland Brooks trial.

Brooks is accused of killing Clark Van Etten last June at Van Etten's Corning apartment. Brooks' lawyer claims he acted in self-defense.

Brooks is facing two counts of second degree murder, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon and could potentially face an unrelated assault charge after allegedly getting into a physical altercation with corrections officers earlier this month.

Jury selection in the murder trial will continue first thing Wednesday morning. Opening statements could begin by the afternoon.
