BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- Broome County Executive Debbie Preston is taking measures that she says will bring greater transparency to county government.
Preston issued a new Whistleblower executive order Thursday. She says it creates new ways for employees and citizens to report inappropriate behavior of county employees.
Designed to be an anonymous tip line, the executive hopes that it will be a resource for the county to provide a safe and fair work environment as well as expose those who may be taking advantage of the taxpayers.
"I want them to feel comfortable that they can come to someone that's going to listen and know that it’s not gonna, you know, if they say something that down the road, there’s going to be some kind of retaliation," said Preston.
People can contact the whistleblower hotline at (607) 763-HELP or they can send an email to whistleblower@co.broome.ny.us.
