ELMIRA, N.Y. -- More money has been factored into Elmira's 2012-2013 budget. An extra $200,000 has been added onto the Capital Budget.
City manager John Burin says the money will go toward the Federal Building, which has been on the market for a while. The former post office is currently being used for storage space.
With the region doing well financially, interest in that building has grown and the city wants to be prepared in case plans move forward with the building.
"There's nothing concrete yet, but we need to be thinking about moving that storage to another facility. We don't know if it's going to be a lease situation, a purchase situation or whatever, but we thought we had to put some money in that capital budget for that purpose," said Burin.
The council will vote on the budget at Monday night's council meeting at 7 p.m.
