Sheriff's office warns of contracting scam
SCHUYLER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Schuyler County Sheriff’s office is warning the public about a contracting scam. They said the contractors are stopping at homes and telling homeowners they have leftover stone from a recent job, which they can have at a reduced price. Once they lay the stones, they hand the homeowner a hefty bill.
The Sheriff's office said they appear to be targeting the elderly, and that legitimate contractors in the area do not go door-to-door soliciting business.
