Man accused of impersonating deputy
BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Binghamton man is accused of impersonating a sheriff's deputy.
Authorities said Thomas Williams, 34, was at the home of another man in the town of Union with a copy of the property deed, questioning a man there about the home and other issues.
When the man became suspicious, investigators said Williams claimed to be a member of the Broome County Sheriff's Office.
He left after trying to get more information, and the man called authorities. Williams is now charged with Criminal Impersonation.
