BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- It was a 5K with a twist on Sunday. The 18th annual AIDS walk and run in Binghamton had a new event this year, an obstacle course.

Patterson’s Punisher was for those who wanted a little more of a challenge at the Greater Binghamton Sports Complex. Men and women climbed, lifted and pushed through the tough course.

Organizers worked with former University of Alabama lineman and Biggest Loser contestant Trent Patterson to create the obstacle course. They said the new event drew in a pretty big crowd with waves booked from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

John Barry, Southern Tier AIDS Program Executive Director said, “It is going to work your whole body. You're going to be filling tractor tires, climbing 12 foot walls, climbing under obstacles. You're going to be tired top to bottom."

Organizers said they've already raised $20,000. They hope to raise $60,000 to $70,000 total. All proceeds stay local.
