OWEGO, N.Y. --Rochester Police Officer Anthony DiPonzio spoke at a memorial breakfast in honor of police week Tuesday morning.

DiPonzio was shot in the back of the head while on duty three years ago and recently returned to work.

During his speech, he gave credit to his fellow officers for keeping him alive, and reminded all of those present of the bond they share as police officers.

DiPonzio says its a honor to share his story with other law enforcement agencies.

"I feel the officers who have survived really have that extra incentive to go and honor those who didn't, because for me there's always that feeling that I could have been one of those officers that didn't survive," DiPonzio said.

Officers will also take part in a memorial golf tournament and hockey game this week.

Police week wraps up with displays and demonstrations Friday and Saturday at the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City.
