Charges filed after child is left on bus
BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- A bus driver and bus monitor face charges after authorities say they left a four-year-old alone on a hot bus for more than an hour.
The Broome County Sheriff's Office says the Chenango Valley pre-school student fell asleep on the bus and was left there in the parking lot. Authorities say the driver and bus monitor did not follow state rules, which require them to check the vehicle at the end of the route to ensure that no children are left on board.
The student received medical treatment for dehydration and a high body temperature.
The bus driver and monitor have been charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
