ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The city of Oneonta put on quite a show of its own as the city welcomed the New Year with its annual parade and First Night celebration.

The parade marched down Main Street Monday afternoon, featuring larger than life puppets, men breathing fire and all kinds of other entertaining acts.

The city's mayor says it's one of his favorite days of the year.

"I'm a parade guy and one of the things Oneonta does really well is parades. It's the best parade at the end of the year and the best parade of the beginning of the year," said Oneonta Mayor Richard Miller.

The parade also featured something you don't see every day: a clown proposing to his girlfriend. We're told she said yes.
