STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. -- Steuben County has a new Sheriff in charge. David Cole, who served as undersheriff for eight years, won this past fall's election and was sworn in New Year's Day.

During his first term as Sheriff, he has some ideas for school safety and to help children who are at what he considers a 'high risk' of behavior issues. He also wants to try combining efforts with other agencies out on the roadways.

"Cooperation between us and the state police and other police agencies. It's almost non-existent now, the last four years we were kind of separated. I want to get that back because it's cheaper for the tax payers if everybody is working together out there," said Sheriff Cole.

Cole replaced Steuben County Sheriff Joel Ordway.
