JCC launches new identity
WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- Jefferson Community College is re-branding its school. According to the school's president, Carole McCoy, students and the surrounding community tell her they love the college but when asked why, they don't quite know.

"We seem to be somewhat underestimated and this is a step in helping people understand more about Jefferson Community College and be proud of the value that Jefferson brings to this community," McCoy said.

Wednesday JCC launched its new logo and tagline, "State University of New York Jefferson, there's more here."

"Yeah there's a lot more here ‘cause I just thought there was going to be normal classes, just like English and math, but there's mythology and there's western religion or eastern religion class and there's a bunch of really interesting classes you can take if you like and it's not boring. It’s something you didn't learn in high school and it’s really fantastic," said freshman Michael Major.

The new identity and logo are all just the beginning. During this time of economic uncertainty, many are looking to downsize. But Jefferson Community College is preparing for its future and looking to expand its campus.

"We got a lot of things that we're looking to do with that plan. We've had some press recently on this idea of we want to put in a higher education center, so that we have physical space for four year partners, stronger relationships with them, particularly for adult learners, so we're working on that," said McCoy.

McCoy said they're working on new curriculum and are looking to expand programs like nursing. She said the new identity is the start in helping people understand how much more JCC has to offer the community.
