Case closed in Wayne Oxley murder trial
Case closed in the Wayne Oxley murder trial. After Oxley had the chance to tell his side of the story, the prosecution called rebuttal witnesses to the stand Tuesday.
Prosecutors believe 41-year-old Oxley of Ogdensburg beat his neighbor, 39-year-old Bernard Trickey, to death with a baseball bat in August 2005.
Investigators were called to the stand to testify if Oxley reacted in the emotional way he said he did when police told him Trickey was dead.
During cross-examination Monday, Oxley showed jurors how he put his head in his hands and cursed out loud during an interview with investigators one day after the murder.
But Ogdensburg Police investigators said they did not see him react that way. The defense attorney also asked for a mistrial, but the judge denied his motion.
Closing arguments begin Wednesday morning.
