ALBANY, N.Y. -- The North Country boys basketball team that brought home the state title earlier this year were honored for their achievement this week.
The Sackets Harbor Patriots were celebrated in Albany Wednesday by the State Senate. The team made the trip as a guest of Senator Patty Ritchie.
Sackets Harbor finished it's season 25-0 and beat Madrid-Waddington in the Class D Final in March.
With Madrid-Waddington also in Ritchie's district, she joked about not knowing who she was rooting for.
Senator Ritchie said, "When it got to the point to figure out which side of the gym I was supposed to sit on, I decided as a politician it was probably safer for me to stay home and wish both teams the best."
Ritchie also applauded the efforts of the parents and teachers in Sackets Harbor for supporting the team on and off the court.
