LEWIS COUNTY, N.Y. -- The students at the Beaver River School District are getting the chance to learn about other cultures through the world of music.
Thanks to a grant, the district was able to bring a former teacher, who's now in North Carolina, and 22 of her students to Lewis County for the week.
Kristine Neale taught at Beaver River for 16 years. Now in Charlotte, she teaches a group of students known as the Patriot Singers Choir.
The group says music is a great way to share culture.
"I think it's been so good for my very diverse student population to see a not so diverse population and for them to find what they have in common. There's been a lot of very strong friendships formed in just a short amount of time," Neale said.
The Patriot Singers Choir will perform at Beaver River's auditorium dedication ceremony Saturday Night.
