WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- More than a thousand people packed in the Fairgrounds Arena in Watertown Wednesday for the annual Senior Health and Wellness Fair.

The event featured 60 different exhibitors offering seniors everything from medical information to flu shots and blood pressure checks.

State Senator Patty Ritchie organized the fair and says it's all about keeping seniors informed and letting them know what services are available. That includes the EPIC program. The Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage Program, which was recently cut in the state's budget, will be back in January.

"I heard immediately from a number of seniors in my district how important it was, how they needed to rely on that program in order to get by. So in the budget talks this year, the Senate restored the EPIC program,” Ritchie said.

Ritchie has two more fairs planned for later this year: Wednesday, October 3rd in Ogdensburg and Thursday, October 11th in Fulton.
