Annika Sorenstam turned out a dominating performance in winning the season's first major competition, and fifth straight LPGA tournament.
Sorenstam shot a final-round 68 to finish at 15 under, and won
the Nabisco Championship by eight shots over Rosie Jones. In doing so, the most dominant player in golf not only won her eighth major, but tied one of golf's tougher records in the process.
The win proved to be Sorenstam's fifth win in a row over two seasons. That tied a record set by Nancy Lopez in 1978. It was also Sorenstam's 59th win of her career and her eighth major championship win.
After getting doused in champagne, Sorenstam took the traditional winner's plunge into the pond next to the 18th green.
