The surprise guest at the Republican National Convention was Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood. The actor and director tried to use humor and an empty chair to talk up Mitt Romney and take on President Obama. YNN's Zack Fink filed the following report.

TAMPA, FL -- Clint Eastwood took the stage Thursday night and quickly let his audience know where he stands politically, going right after the president.

"When someone does not do the job, we gotta let 'em go," he said.

During the Super Bowl earlier this year, Eastwood appeared in a lengthy commercial for Chrysler where he uttered the now-famous line "It's halftime, America. And our second half is about to begin."

The ad was widely viewed by critics as an endorsement of President Barack Obama's bailout of the auto industry, a myth he debunked Thursday night.

Eastwood pretended to speak with an imaginary Obama next to him on stage. In the elaborate gag, the president was talking back to him.

"You want me to tell him what? He can't do that to himself," Eastwood said at one point during the gag.

Eastwood also struck a serious tone when he talked about joblessness.

"You know what makes me cry? 23 million people out of work," he said.

The Hollywood A-lister used one of his most famous lines from his Dirty Harry character to end his speech: "Go ahead, make my day."
