CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The first of several groups planning to protest during the Democratic National Convention will march Sunday in uptown Charlotte.

The group participating in the March on Wall Street South began camping Friday into Saturday in Marshall Park, and it has only grown larger since then.

Organizers of the march are expecting anywhere from 2,000 to 10,000 people to attend. A similar demonstration at the Republican National Convention in Tampa last week drew out less than 500 people, according to police there.

More than 80 groups have been working on this movement for the past 10 months and they say they're representing a variety of struggles including labor, civil rights and the environmental movement.

The protesters will start out at Frazier Park and march by Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Duke Energy and two spots where convention events will be held – Time Warner Cable Arena and Bank of America Stadium. Stops are scheduled at the headquarters of Bank of America and Duke Energy.

They plan to gather at 11:00 a.m. and begin the march at 1:00 p.m.

City and county officials say they haven't given permission for anyone to camp in the parks and police are monitoring the situation.
