CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- One thing Charlotte 714 organizer David Benham made clear was this event is not a protest.
The event is called Charlotte 714, referring to a Bible verse that calls for peaceful assemblies in times of crisis.
That's exactly why people said they attended this event on Sunday. They said our nation is facing a crisis on many levels and they are praying for better times ahead.
Benham said with the political spotlight on Charlotte and protestors expected all week, this is opportunity to highlight the good happening in Charlotte.
"We love our city, we seek to bring restoration into our city and into our nation,” said Benham.
People who attend Charlotte 714 can expect prayer and some Christian rock bands are slated to perform.
Benham also said he's not aware of any groups at Charlotte 714 that plan on having a presence in uptown during the DNC.
